Alarm Re-Router™Sold only to Licensed Alarm Companies
The Alarm Re-Router™ allows an alarm company to change the monitoring phone number an alarm panel dials if they can't get into programming on the panel. Put in any phone number you'd like, to use any monitoring service you'd like.
It can be pre-programmed at your office, and sent to the customer to install in-series with an RJ-31X. The Alarm Re-Router™ is telephone line powered, and has non-volatile memory. You must have an RJ-31X installed to use the Alarm Re-Router™.
It does not allow an alarm panel to be programmed. It simply sits in-front of the alarm panel. You can't change the customer account number, zones, or any other alarm panel options with the Alarm Re-Router™.
The Alarm Re-Router™ absorbs the number dialed by the alarm panel, and then dials the string of digits (including pauses and additional digits) you program into the Alarm Re-Router™ out to the Phone Company.
It will also convert a panel that dials in rotary (pulse) to DTMF, but it won't change the data sent by the panel, so the panel might not work with a VoIP or cable telephone service. The Alarm Re-Router™ will also dial in rotary, if you'd like.
The Alarm Re-Router™ will also let you strip the area code from the number dialed by the panel, and replace it with a new area code.
Installation is simple:
- Remove the alarm panel's RJ-31X Cord from the existing RJ-31X Jack
- Plug that RJ-31X Cord into the RJ-31X Jack on the Alarm Re-Router™
- Plug the included short Cord into the RJ-31X Jack (from the Phone Company)
The Alarm Re-Router™ can be optioned to allow ringing to the alarm panel, or block ringing to the alarm panel so the panel can't be programmed remotely. The Alarm Re-Router™ can be programmed remotely if someone at the premise manually answers the line.
The Alarm Re-Router™ is programmed from a DTMF phone, or from our RS-232 Programmer (below), connected to Hyperterminal, Procomm or some other communications program. Using the scripts feature in Procomm will let you automatically program the Alarm Re-Router™
We can only sell the Alarm Re-Router™ to licensed alarm companies who are willing to provide their own support. We'll provide limited support to a single technician from your company, but that technician will be responsibe for supporting other technicians at your company.

The Alarm Re-Router™ RS-232 Programmer allows an alarm company to change the Alarm Re-Router™ programming from a PC using a communications program, instead of using DTMF. Communications is through Hyperterminal, Procomm or some other communications program. Using the scripts feature in Procomm will let you automatically program the Alarm Re-Router™
The RS-232 Programmer is connected to a header pin inside the Alarm Re-Router™, which requires careful removal of the Alarm Re-Router's™ PC board from its box. Like all electronic devices, the Alarm Re-Router™ is static sensitive.
All programming registers in the Alarm Re-Router™ can be changed from the RS-232 Programmer, but their contents can't be displayed. The only thing you can do is change the value of a register, and automate the process using a communications program with scripting capabilities. We can't offer support on any of these options, but full instructions are included.
